How to choose

What it is for

  1. Powered horizontal transport of pallets over longer distances and higher frequency than hand trucks.
  2. Loading/unloading trucks, cross-docking, supermarket back-of-house.
  3. Rider (platform/seated) versions for long routes; double-decker for two pallets.

Check before you choose

  • Capacity 1 500–3 000 kg
  • Walkie vs. platform/stand-on vs. seated by distance and shifts
  • Battery type (Li-ion for opportunity charging), charger
  • Fork length for 1 or 2 pallets
  • Ramps and gradients (drive motor power)
  • Aisle width

Not suitable for

  • Lifting onto racking (lift ~120–200 mm) — use a stacker
  • Outdoor rough terrain

What we will ask you before recommending a model

Electric pallet truck (walkie / rider / stand-on / seated) Technical check — we confirm a few parameters and compatibility with you before the order.
  1. Heaviest load including pallet, packaging and any attachment? Rule of thumb: use at most 80 % of rated capacity for safety and service life.
  2. Pallet sizes; one or two pallets per trip; fork length?
  3. Distance per trip and pallets per hour? Decides pedestrian vs. platform vs. seated.
  4. Are there gradients (ramps, slopes) in the working area? How steep (%) and how long (m)? Pedestrian and stand-on trucks are designed for level floors; motor, brakes and drive-wheel traction are sized for occasional short ramps. On a long or steep slope they overheat, lose traction or cannot hold the load.
  5. What is the floor: industrial concrete, asphalt, paving, gravel, uneven, potholes, sharp edges, expansion joints, thresholds, drains? Small polyurethane wheels and no suspension: tolerance for unevenness is very low. Sharp edges cut the PU tread; gaps stop the small load rollers.
  6. How long must the truck run continuously, how many hours per day and shifts? Pallets per hour, distance per trip? Battery capacity and truck class follow from this. Most buyers under-specify on price and end up with a truck that stops mid-shift.

Typical mistakes to avoid

  • A small walkie is no substitute for a rider truck on long routes — choose the operator position by distance and intensity.

Double-decker pallet truck (two pallets) Technical check — we confirm a few parameters and compatibility with you before the order.
  1. Masses of lower and upper pallet and combined; dimensions; stacking height; route; doors; cycles? Confirm permitted combined AND individual capacity — the total does not apply to every combination.
  3. How long must the truck run continuously, how many hours per day and shifts? Pallets per hour, distance per trip? Battery capacity and truck class follow from this. Most buyers under-specify on price and end up with a truck that stops mid-shift.

Typical mistakes to avoid

  • Confirm combined and individual capacity; total capacity does not hold for every combination.

Helpful to have ready: Both pallets: mass, dimensions, height · Route · Doors · Shifts

Light duty electric pallet trucks such as the Li-Ion pallet jack EPV15 and the ultra-compact EPV15LD-Li weigh little, charge from a standard socket and handle up to 1500 kg. For heavy duty work, the EPV30SP moves 3000 kg, while rider and seated models cover long warehouse runs.

The double decker pallet truck EVP20-IP and the EPV20-I for two pallets double the load per trip — one pallet on the forks, one on the support arms.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between walkie, rider and seated pallet trucks?

With a walkie model the operator walks alongside the truck — ideal for short runs and tight backrooms. Rider (stand-on) models add a platform, and seated models a cabin seat, which pays off on long warehouse runs where the operator would otherwise walk kilometres per shift.

AGM or Li-Ion battery — which should I choose?

Li-Ion batteries charge faster, allow opportunity charging during breaks without damaging the battery and need no maintenance, which suits multi-shift and intermittent use. AGM batteries keep the purchase price lower and remain a solid choice for predictable single-shift work with overnight charging.

What capacity electric pallet truck do I need?

Light-duty models cover loads up to 1500 kg, the standard walkie range up to 2000 kg, and heavy-duty models up to 3000 kg. Base the choice on your heaviest regularly moved pallet — and if you move two pallets per run, a double-decker or two-pallet model doubles the throughput instead of doubling the trips.

Can electric pallet trucks work in delivery vehicles?

Yes — compact light-duty models are designed for exactly that: low service weight so they ride along without eating into the payload, and compact dimensions for manoeuvring inside the vehicle body and on tail lifts. Li-Ion versions can be recharged from a standard socket between runs.

How quickly can an electric pallet truck be delivered?
