Maintaining wind turbines means moving tools and spare parts to heights that ordinary hoists never see. The GIS GPW series was developed exactly for that job: a special version of the proven GP electric chain hoist, optimised for lifting heights up to 200 m inside the tower, from the ground straight up to the nacelle.
Key features
- Based on the proven GIS GP 500 / GP 1000 electric chain hoists — up to 1000 kg on a single chain fall
- Lifting heights up to 200 m: spare parts and tools travel from the ground to the nacelle in one hoist path
- Lifting speed up to 16 m/min with automatic switch-over from high to creep speed shortly before the stroke end (geared limit switch), so toolboxes land softly and nothing falls out
- External limit switches for the hook end positions in addition to the geared limit switches
- Temperature monitoring with automatic motor shutdown in case of overheating — powerful motors with low operating temperature
- Tempered special chain and a load hook with protective cover, so the hook cannot snag anywhere on the long way up
- Protection class IP65, insulation class F, DC spring-loaded brake, adjustable slipping clutch outside the flow of forces
- Options: manual or motorised trolley, chain container sized for the lifting height, operating data counter, brake with manual release, locking load hook, grease for low-temperature use, special suspensions, worldwide operating and control voltages
Technical overview (standard version)
- Model / SKU: GPW (based on GP 500 / GP 1000)
- Product family: Special-Purpose Hoists
- Load capacity: up to 1000 kg (1 chain fall)
- Lifting height: up to 200 m
- Lifting speed: up to 16 m/min, 2 lifting speeds (3-phase motor)
- Standard voltages: 3 × 400 V / 50 Hz, 3 × 230 V / 50 Hz — other voltages on request
- Control: 42 V low-voltage control; ergonomic control switch with emergency stop and external strain relief
- Suspension: eyebolt suspension; hook and special suspensions available
- Protection class: IP65
- Typical use: vertical transport of spare parts and tools inside wind turbine towers, up to the nacelle
The GPW is a project product: GIS builds each hoist to the turbine — lifting height, chain container, voltage, trolley and suspensions are specified per installation. Send us your parameters and we will come back with a tailored offer and technical advice.
