How to choose
What it is for
- Buckles closing polyester straps — wire buckles and phosphated variants by strap width.
Check before you choose
- Strap width match
- Strength class
What we will ask you before recommending a model
Buckles and seals Standard selection — the parameters above are enough to choose the right model.
- Strap material, width and thickness; required joint strength; tool; buckle/seal type? Same nominal width is not enough — the buckle must match the strap type and tensioning method; the joint is often the weakest point.
Typical mistakes to avoid
- The joint is often the weakest point — buckle must match strap type, width and tensioning method.
Helpful to have ready: Exact strap type/width · Photo of roll/label · Customer's tool
Edge protectors Standard selection — the parameters above are enough to choose the right model.
- Strap width; shape/radius of the edge; surface/sensitivity of the cargo; tensioning force; protection length needed? Protects both cargo and strap and spreads the pressure; a wrong/too small profile slips.
Typical mistakes to avoid
- Wrong or too small profile slips; protector must suit strap width and edge.
Helpful to have ready: Strap width · Photo of the edge · Package dimension · Tensioning method
Steel strapping tensioner / sealer / cutter Standard selection — the parameters above are enough to choose the right model.
- Steel strap width, thickness and grade (regular/high-tensile); closing method; seal type; required tension; number of packages; cutting tensioned or slack strap? Tensioner, sealer and steel strap must be compatible in width, thickness and steel grade; a tensioned steel strap can spring back violently.
Typical mistakes to avoid
- Tensioner, sealer and steel strap must match in width, thickness and grade; tensioned steel strap springs back — use the right tool and procedure.

Buckles and seals for strapping
The buckle is where a strapping system succeeds or fails: the joint it forms is normally the weakest point of the loop, so the buckle must match both the strap width and the duty. For polyester strapping the range covers galvanized wire buckles for standard use and phosphated wire buckles whose rougher surface grips the strap harder, each in widths from 13 to 32 mm.
Beyond polyester, there are steel seals for PP strapping, plastic buckles for PP strapping and seals for steel strapping. PVC edge protectors round out the programme — they spread the strap tension over the cargo edge, protecting both the strap and the load. Applied with a manual tensioner, the buckle joint needs no tools, power or consumable seals-crimping. Contact us if you need help matching buckles to your strap and load.
Frequently asked questions
How do I match a buckle to my strap?
By width first — a 16 mm strap takes a 16 mm buckle — then by duty: galvanized buckles for standard applications, phosphated ones where maximum grip on the strap is needed. Using the strap manufacturer's matching buckle keeps the rated joint strength valid.
Galvanized or phosphated wire buckles?
Galvanized buckles resist corrosion and are the standard choice. Phosphated buckles have a rougher, high-friction surface that grips the strap harder, which raises the joint strength — the usual pick for heavier or settling loads.
Why use edge protectors?
A tensioned strap concentrates force on the cargo corner: the PVC edge protector spreads that force, preventing the strap from cutting into the load and the edge from abrading the strap. They are cheap insurance on packaged goods, timber and sharp-edged cargo.
