How to choose

What it is for

  1. Tensioning and cutting polyester straps — manual tensioners by strap width.

Check before you choose

  • Strap width and type
  • Ergonomics/volume

What we will ask you before recommending a model

Manual tensioner for polyester strapping Standard selection — the parameters above are enough to choose the right model.
  1. Strap type (PP/PET/composite/woven), width, thickness, buckle/seal type, required tension, packages per day, ergonomics? Different strap types do not necessarily use the same tensioner or closing principle.

Typical mistakes to avoid

  • PP/PET/composite/woven straps do not necessarily share a tensioner or closing principle.

Helpful to have ready: Photo/label of the strap · Width/thickness · Buckle · Strappings per day

Steel strapping tensioner / sealer / cutter Standard selection — the parameters above are enough to choose the right model.
  1. Steel strap width, thickness and grade (regular/high-tensile); closing method; seal type; required tension; number of packages; cutting tensioned or slack strap? Tensioner, sealer and steel strap must be compatible in width, thickness and steel grade; a tensioned steel strap can spring back violently.

Typical mistakes to avoid

  • Tensioner, sealer and steel strap must match in width, thickness and grade; tensioned steel strap springs back — use the right tool and procedure.

Helpful to have ready: Width/thickness and strap type · Closing method · Cycles

Manual strapping tensioners and cutters

The tensioner is the tool that turns strap and buckle into a secured load: it pulls the strap tight around the cargo and holds the tension while the buckle is set. Manual tensioners need no power or air, which keeps them working anywhere — on the dock, in the field, on the truck bed. The range covers tensioners for PP and PET strapping in 12 and 16 mm, combined plastic-strapping models, and heavier units for wide straps such as the STRAP-TENSIONER-173 for 25/32 mm.

Steel strapping has its own dedicated tools: steel-strap tensioners from 16 to 32 mm and safety cutters that release the tensioned steel band in a controlled way. Combine the tensioner with the matching polyester straps, buckles and a dispenser stand for a complete manual strapping station. Contact us if you are unsure which tensioner fits your strap.

Frequently asked questions

Which tensioner do I need for my strap?

Match the tensioner to the strap material and width: PP/PET models cover 12–16 mm plastic straps, dedicated units handle 25/32 mm wide polyester and composite straps, and steel strapping requires its own tensioners and cutters. The supported widths are stated on each tool's page.

How much tension is enough?

Enough that the strap bites firmly into the load without damaging it — with polyester straps the material's elasticity then keeps that tension even when the load settles during transport. Edge protectors let you apply higher tension on sensitive cargo.

Why do I need a special cutter for steel strapping?

A tensioned steel band stores real energy — cut with ordinary pliers it whips loose and can injure the operator. Safety cutters like the SCISSOR-45 hold the band while cutting and release the tension in a controlled way.
