How to choose
What it is for
- Counterbalance electric forklift for pallets and goods indoors and on paved yards — loading trucks, general handling.
- Heavier loads (1.5–3.5 t) and higher heights than stackers.
- 3- and 4-wheel variants by manoeuvrability and stability.
Check before you choose
- Capacity at load centre and height
- Mast type and collapsed height (containers/doors)
- Tyres: cushion (indoor) vs. pneumatic (yard)
- Battery and charging
- Operator licence and safety requirements
Not suitable for
- Very narrow aisles — reach/VNA
- Rough terrain without proper tyres
What we will ask you before recommending a model
Electric counterbalance forklift Technical check — we confirm a few parameters and compatibility with you before the order.
- Heaviest load including pallet, packaging and any attachment? Rule of thumb: use at most 80 % of rated capacity for safety and service life.
- Dimensions (L×W×H) of the largest and of the heaviest load? Is the centre of gravity known and centred? The load centre moves away from the mast as the load gets longer; real capacity falls with load-centre distance and lift height (capacity diagram). Tall loads raise the COG.
- How high must the load be lifted — top rack beam, vehicle bed, machine table? How many rack levels? Capacity at maximum height is much lower than nominal (residual capacity). Customers know 'the rack', not millimetres — ask them to measure the top beam.
- Lowest passage in the working area (doors, beams, pipes, mezzanine, container, lift)? Ceiling height where stacking happens? Lowered mast height must pass every obstacle; extended mast must fit under ceiling, lighting and sprinklers.
- Aisle width between racks and the narrowest passage / door? Every truck has a stacking-aisle width (Ast). Compare with Ast, not with the truck width.
- Indoor, outdoor or both; floor surface; gradients? Tyre type and drive follow; the counterbalance forklift is the only truck type designed for gradients > 5 % over > 20 m.
- 3-wheel or 4-wheel: tight manoeuvring or stability with heavy loads/outdoor?
- How long must the truck run continuously, how many hours per day and shifts? Pallets per hour, distance per trip? Battery capacity and truck class follow from this. Most buyers under-specify on price and end up with a truck that stops mid-shift.
- Attachments (side shift, fork positioner, clamp, rotator)? Every attachment changes mass, COG and residual capacity.
Typical mistakes to avoid
- Each attachment changes mass, COG and residual capacity — confirm the combination truck + attachment + height.

Electric forklifts
Quiet, emission-free and cheap to run per hour, electric forklifts have taken over indoor pallet handling — and modern AC drives removed the last performance excuses. The range covers the manoeuvrable 3-wheel ECV15ET (1500 kg) and premium ECV20T, the full-AC ECV16S–ECV35S family (1600–3500 kg, up to 6.5 m), the stand-up counterbalance SECV20 for frequent on/off work, and the 4-directional ECV16CD/ECV20CD that carries long loads sideways through narrow doors.
Inside racking a reach truck uses aisles a forklift cannot; for lighter stacking duty electric stackers cost less. Contact us with loads, heights and aisle widths and we will spec the truck and battery.
Frequently asked questions
3-wheel or 4-wheel electric forklift?
3-wheel trucks turn on the spot and win in tight indoor layouts up to about 2000 kg. 4-wheel models carry more (up to 3500 kg in this range) and are more stable with long or high loads — the choice for heavier mixed duty.
What is a 4-directional forklift for?
Long loads: its wheels rotate so the truck travels sideways with profiles, pipes or timber through standard doors and aisles — one machine instead of a forklift plus a sideloader.
What about batteries and charging?
The trucks run on traction batteries with charging matched to your shift pattern — single-shift operations charge overnight; multi-shift work needs opportunity charging or battery exchange. Tell us your shifts and we will propose the battery concept.
How quickly can an electric forklift be delivered?
Forklifts are configured per order (mast, battery, options). Request a quote on the product page and we will confirm the current lead time, delivery and commissioning for your location.
