Hand Pallet Trucks
How to choose
What it is for
- Moving pallets short distances at floor level by hand — loading bays, shops, workshops.
- Occasional use, vehicle unloading, tight spaces.
- Special variants: stainless (food), galvanized (wet/outdoor), scale, low-profile, long/short forks, rough terrain.
Check before you choose
- Capacity (2 000–5 000 kg) with reserve
- Fork length/width vs. pallet (EUR 1200×800: standard 1150 mm forks; long forks for 2 pallets or long goods)
- Lowered fork height for low pallets
- Wheels: nylon (hard floor), polyurethane (quiet, delicate floors), rubber
- Environment: food/pharma → stainless; wet → galvanized
Not suitable for
- Lifting pallets onto racking or vehicles (max ~200 mm lift) — use a stacker
- Long distances or multi-shift — electric pallet truck
- Gradients/ramps with heavy loads
What we will ask you before recommending a model
Hand pallet truck Standard selection — the parameters above are enough to choose the right model.
- Heaviest load including pallet, packaging and any attachment? Rule of thumb: use at most 80 % of rated capacity for safety and service life.
- Pallet type/dimensions (EUR 1200×800, industrial 1200×1000, half, display, custom)? Closed-bottom or low pallets? Entry height? Pallet compatibility matters more than capacity: fork length, overall width, lowered height and pallet underside.
- What is the floor: industrial concrete, asphalt, paving, gravel, uneven, potholes, sharp edges, expansion joints, thresholds, drains? Small polyurethane wheels and no suspension: tolerance for unevenness is very low. Sharp edges cut the PU tread; gaps stop the small load rollers.
- Distance per trip, trips per day, ramps? A hand truck is for short level moves; pushing 2 t up a ramp is unsafe.
Typical mistakes to avoid
- Pallet compatibility is more important than capacity — check entry height and pallet underside.

How to choose a hand pallet truck
The hand pallet truck is the most used machine in any warehouse, so small differences — pump quality, bearings, wheel material — decide how it feels after the thousandth pallet. The range is tiered: the economic RPV2000E (2000 kg) for light duty, the standard, classic and premium RPV models (2500–3000 kg) for everyday work, and the heavy-duty RPV3500HD (3500 kg) and RPV5000HD (5000 kg) where loads outgrow the standard class.
Next to the standard trucks there is a specialised group for jobs a normal pallet truck handles badly: quick lift (RPV2500BP) for many light pallets a day, a braked truck (RPV2500K) for ramps and dock levellers, four-way travel (RPV2500CS) for long loads in narrow aisles, low profile forks down to 35 mm (RPV1000N/RPV1500N) for skids and closed-bottom pallets, 406 mm narrow (RPV2000UV) and 840 mm wide forks (RPV1500SV/RPV1500NSV) for loads that do not match a EUR pallet, the 35 kg mini truck (RPV500M), stainless steel (RPV2500NC) and galvanized (RPV2500G) for washdown, damp and outdoor areas, a load backrest (RPV2500O) for tall or loose stacks, cradle forks for reels (RPV1000PN), and pneumatic wheels for building sites (RPV1500T). Fork length can also be made to order, longer or shorter than standard.
Two families live in their own categories: scissor pallet trucks that double as a work table, and pallet trucks with integrated scales that weigh during transport. When transport distances or frequencies grow beyond hand-pump territory, step up to electric pallet trucks. Contact us if your pallets or floors are non-standard and we will match the right truck.
Frequently asked questions
Which hand pallet truck class do I need?
For occasional use the economic class is enough; daily multi-hour duty deserves the standard/classic/premium tier with better pumps and bearings; loads above 3000 kg call for the heavy-duty 5000 kg model. The premium tier pays for itself in pump strokes and service life.
Which wheels should I choose?
Polyurethane wheels are the quiet all-rounder for concrete floors; nylon rolls easier and survives wet and cold storage but is louder. Tandem fork rollers help on thresholds and ramps — state your floor type in the enquiry and we will advise.
When does an electric pallet truck make more sense?
When daily distances stretch to hundreds of metres, loads sit at the 2000+ kg end, or ramps enter the route — pushing a loaded hand truck up a ramp is where operators get hurt. Compact electric walkie models start close to premium hand-truck prices.
